NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH
No one knows a neighborhood better than the residents themselves. That's why a Neighborhood Watch is so important. Neighbors know who is supposed to be at a certain location and when they are supposed to be there. Neighbors watching out for neighbors creates a safe neighborhood. There are several Neighborhood Watch groups within the Town of Farmville and we are hoping to add more. If you would like join a neighborhood watch or to begin a neighborhood watch in your area please contact Detective Chris Moss at 392-9259 or by

NATIONAL NIGHT OUT On Tuesday, August 2, 2011 thirteen neighborhoods throughout Farmville joined forces with thousands of communities nationwide for "National Night Out". This was Farmville's second year participating in this event. National Night Out is designed to: Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime efforts; Strenghten neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and are fighting back against crime. Most neighborhoods had some type of picnic/cookout and some even had DJs providing music. One neighborhood gave out school supplies and had a "bounce house" for the kids. This winter, the Farmville Police Department was notified that our 2011 event was recognized as a National Award Winner!
If you are interested in hosting a National Night Out event in 2012, please contact Detective Chris Moss at 392-9259 or by

The Farmville Police Department is one of the members of Prince Edward County TRIAD. TRIAD is a cooperative effort between law enforcement, senior citizens, and agencies that serve seniors to prevent crime among the elderly. TRIAD is based in the Virginia Attorney General's Office and is run locally by a SALT Council (Seniors And Law Enforcement Together). Currently the SALT Council meets at the Courthouse every third Thursday of the month and county wide TRIAD meetings are held quarterly at the Farmville Moose Lodge. TRIAD also does crime prevention presentations for smaller groups at churches, civic organizations, etc. Shown below is the TRIAD SALT Council with Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli in the fall of 2011.
