 The Recreation Department plans, coordinates, and oversees activities for all ages. The Recreation Department host activities for youth, teens, adults and seniors in the Town of Farmville and surrounding areas. The Recreation Department offers programs in the areas of arts, sports, fitness, outdoor recreation and special events. The Recreation Department also oversees the Recreation Scholarship Fund, a fund created to help ensure individuals are not turned away from recreational programs because of their inability to pay.

- Youth Lacrosse-
The Town of Farmville Recreation Department is sponsoring offering Youth Lacrosse to Southside Virginia in spring of 2012. The Farmville Lacrosse Club is an organized youth program for boy's and girl's ages 8 to 15 years old. All registration fees are due February 24th, 2012. Official team practice begins March 15, 2012. Regular season games begin April 7th, 2012. Registration costs are $75.00 for boy's and girl's Lacrosse and $50.00 for the Farmville Lacrosse Club. - Heart of Virginia Festival 10K and 5K fun walk, mark your calendar for the annual Heart of Virginia Festival 10K run and 5K fun walk. It will be held May 5, 2012. The race starts at 8:30 a.m. Fees must be postmarked/received by April 21st to the day of registration. Registration is $15.00. - Adult Men's Basketball League-
The Town of Farmville Recreation Department is sponsoring an Adult Men's Basketball League for all males 40 and over. The game format will be 5-on-5 full court with officials being provided for each game. Space is limited and full league payment is required at the time of registration. For more information please view the Adult Men's Basketball League Flyer. All participants must complete and sublit an Adult Basketball Waiver Form in order to participate.
- The Farmville Municipal Golf Course will be offering a series of Saturday morning golf clinics. These clinics will focus on several different areas of your golf game. Each Saturday the clinic will tackle a different golf topic. For more information please view the Golf Lessons Flyer.
The clinic topics that will be addressed are as follows:
- One Day Club Analysis and Fitting Clas, January 21st from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
- Digital Movie of your Golf Swing, February18th from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
- Trouble Shots and working the Ball Clinic, March 178th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
- Introduction to the Golf Cheat Sheet, April 21st from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
- Short Game (Big Break Style) Shoot-out-may 12 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
- Group Fitness Class -
The Recreation Department is offering a Group Fitness Class. The class' objective is to target all major muscle groups using various exercises. The total body work out incorporates bursts of cardio into movements intended to help tone all major muscles. Please view the Group Fitness Flyer for more details.
