ARTISTIC PROGRAMS
Farmville Children's Players

The Farmville Children’s Players is a theater program for ages 6 to 18 sponsored by the Recreation Department to introduce local area youth into acting and performing in a theatrical setting. The Recreation Department sponsors up to four (4) live performances a year between the months of March and September. All performances are held at Crute Stage on Main Street. AQUATIC PROGRAMS
Swimming Lessons 
The Recreation Department sponsors the American Red Cross Learn to Swim Program for both local area youth and adults. The Program has a level for every swimmer’s ability from non-swimmers to competition swimmers. Currently the Recreation Department offers swim lessons during the summer. AFTER-SCHOOL, CAMPS & SPECIAL EVENTS

The Recreation Department coordinates the Halloween Costume Parade downtown on Main Street. Every year local area youth trick or treat at the local downtown merchants to receive candy and show off their wonderful and spooky costumes. The Halloween Costume Parade is held at 4:00 p.m. on or the Friday before if Halloween falls on the weekend. Summer Day Camp The Recreation Department oversees the operation of a summer day camp offered to local area youth ages 6 to 13 years old. The camp program is an entire summer of week long adventures and activities held in a safe environment. Each week has a different theme, and the summer camp activities include sports, arts, crafts, swimming, field trips, and so many more fun activities. FITNESS & MOVEMENT PROGRAMS
Youth Dance Classes
The Recreation Department offers modern dance lessons for local area youth ages 6 to 17. They are held at various locations around Farmville. Llessons are offered in the following disciplines: Ballet, Jazz, Step, and Hip-hop. Two (2) live dance recitals are held, in the fall and another in the spring. Youth Martial Arts Classes
The Recreation Department offers Martial Arts classes to local area youth ages 8 to 17. Classes are held at the South Street Conference Center. Our youth martial arts classes are to instruct youth on discipline, respect, and to building confidence. Participants occasionally compete in local Karate competitions, but this is optional and separate from the Martial Art class format. OUTDOOR RECREATION PROGRAMS Archery The Recreation Department offers an Archery program for local area youth ages 8 to 17 years old. The program is held after school hours at Wilck’s Lake Island. It is designed to teach the fundamentals of shooting a bow and arrow in a fun and safe environment. Participants are encouraged to compete in local archery events, but competition is optional. Fishing 
The Town of Farmville offers fishing at Wilck’s Lake and Mottley Lake. Individuals are required to have both a State and Town Fishing license to fish in either lake. Town fishing licenses can be purchased at the Farmville Treasure’r s office in the Town Hall building at 116 North Main Street. Skate Park

The Recreation Department oversees the programs of the Town’s Skate Park. The Park is open from dawn till dusk to all interested in skateboarding. Participants are required to wear helmets and strongly encouraged to wear all other safety equipment such as knee and elbow pads. The Skateboard Park is free to all, but participants are required to have a Town Skate Pass. Passes are available in the Town Administration offices located in the Town Hall at 116 North Main Street. YOUTH SPORTS

The Recreation Department oversees the operation of the Youth Flag Football Program for local area children ages 5 to 7. Seven year olds weighing less than 60 pounds are allowed to play Flag Football. The program is designed to introduce them to the fundamental principles and skills of football in a fun and safe environment. The Recreation Department oversees the operation of the Youth Tackle Football Program for local area youth ages 7 to 14. The Program is designed to teach local area children the fundamental principles and skills of football in a fun and safe environment. Each individual is placed on a team determined by weight as well as age. Seven year olds are allowed to play Flag Football if they weight under 60 pounds. The Recreation Department oversees the operation of the youth cheerleading program for local area youth ages 5 to 14. The program is designed to teach local area children the fundamental principles and skills of cheerleading in a fun and safe environment. Cheerleaders are broken down into teams based on age and ability. Each age group will cheer for their age appropriate team. Junior Golf 
The Recreation Department sponsors the Junior Golf program for local area youth ages 8 to 14. The program is designed to teach the fundamental principles and skills of golf in a fun and safe environment. It is held at the Farmville Municipal Golf Course from March through September. In the summer compietitions in the Piedmont Youth Golf Series are sponsored by the Virginia State Golf Association.
