The mayor and all seven council members are elected to serve four-year terms. The town manager, chief of police and treasurer are appointed positions.

The mayor is elected at-large from the entire population of the town.

There are two (2) council members that are elected at-large from the entire population of the town. These are on staggered four year terms.

Council members from Wards A, B, and C are elected to serve four-year terms. These members were elected on the first Tuesday of May 2006 and their terms will expire on July 1, 2010. Elections for new members will be held in May of 2010.

Council members from Wards D and E are elected to serve four-year terms. These members were elected on the first Tuesday of May 2004 and their terms will expire on July 1, 2008. Elections for new members will be held in May of 2008.
